Four people arrive at a union hotel where only three places are on record. The discrepancy opens an investigation into a place that can administer not only rooms, but facts, memories and its guests’ identities.
Bruno, Lucía, Tano and the narrator follow documents, voices and material traces to understand what keeps the hotel running. Each receives an offer that could make them part of what they are trying to comprehend.
Observation ceases to be an outside position as the narrator approaches the institutional editing of events. The novel sets the coherence of an authorised account against a material reality that cannot be entirely replaced.
