Speculative suspense · Long short story

La forma del error

Unpublished · Spanish-language original

A forensic analyst receives a recording that seems to carry the breathing of a dead colleague. Tracking its voice brings her into conflict with a system that demands people conform to its records.

Ariadna works with voices other people need to turn into evidence. A sound file and a cassette lead her to Daniel and a chain of checks in which identity becomes a demand for conformity.

In this speculative suspense story, forensic listening raises a question of authority: who decides which voice is authentic, and what happens when a person no longer matches their record?

Editorial focus

For literary magazines, anthologies and speculative short-fiction lists. A sound-based investigation concentrates the suspense around identity, evidence and authority.
