El instante inútil
Prize-winning novel · Spanish publication announced
Winner of the VII Las Palmas de Gran Canaria International Mystery and Suspense Novel Prize, 2026.
A recording in Madrid’s Retiro Park. A girl who disappears. Images that become less certain with every viewing.
A video editor records an unsettling encounter in a Madrid park. Days later, he notices details in the footage that he cannot remember seeing. A possible connection to an earlier disappearance draws him into conflicting files and documents of uncertain origin.
The investigation turns on the act of looking itself: what an image can prove, what memory brings to it, and what the viewer constructs.
Editorial focus
For thriller and literary suspense lists, an investigation driven by the uncertainty of images. The 2026 prize makes this novel a starting point for exploring the author’s catalogue.
